Remembering A Literary Pioneer

The writing community was dealt a mighty blow. We lost one of the pioneers of storytelling, Toni Morrison. While she has an impressive body of work, it is the tale of Beloved that captivated my attention, both the book and the movie it inspired.

Toni showed us the essence of championing a story and giving it a soul so that it could breathe and be. I am forever grateful for her influence and this week’s Writer’s Tip is straight from the legend:

If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, you must be the one to write it.
